MISSION. The Plot Garden Project aims to create a vibrant community hub that promotes health and sustainability through an urban garden and local food lab. By demonstrating the link between healthy soil and nutritious food, we nourish our community and green our urban environment. Through education, events, and media, we empower individuals to make sustainable choices, fostering a healthier, more connected community. By nurturing curiosity and innovation we encourage solution based thinking and create products and processes that satisfy a need for more sustainable, nutritious and accessible food.

ACTIVITIES. TPGP will cultivate and expand our regenerative garden in urban South Oceanside, CA, while promoting local, healthy eating habits. We currently manage nearly 1000 square feet of growing space and engage hundreds of thousands of individuals through our digital media platforms and print publications. Over the next year, we aim to double our influence, empowering individuals in our community to embrace practices that improve health, resilience, and equitable access to nutritious food. We will make use of The Plot’s large kitchen and outdoor cooking space to experiment and create, focusing on whole plant utilization and preservation through healthy and environmentally sustainable techniques. Our goal is to develop and popularize methods of cooking that reduce our reliance on extractive farming practices while creating products and processes that encourage and democratize access to plant-forward diet choices.

OUR CHALLEGE. operating a small, independent restaurant has been a bumpy road. we opened in february 2020, six weeks prior to covid shutdowns. it has been a challenge to remain viable as a business while committing extra resources to building a space for education and community empowerment. we are proud of what we have accomplished on a shoestring, and hopeful that with greater support we will be able to amplify our impact exponentially.
