CURRENT PROJECTS

our 2026 goal is to double our South Oceanside Garden Space, specifically along our adjacent South O’ alley and along Tremont street for high community visibility

Project One.

The South O’ Alleyway Garden

The Vision:

A 15’x15’ dumpster containment area at the entrance to the Tremont Street parking lot is currently just cracked concrete. We see its potential. Our plan is to create a lush, green oasis with four large raised garden beds, surrounded by wood chips and framed by a living perimeter. This new garden will:

-Nourish Our Community: Fresh produce will be sold to our adjacent restaurant and donated to local organizations.

-Educate & Inspire: The alley-facing fence will become an outdoor classroom, displaying educational content about urban farming and our mission.

-Beautify & Engage: We will replace an ugly concrete slab with a living, visible symbol of community resilience for everyone driving or walking by.

The Plan & Impact:

-Location: South Oceanside alley, adjacent to our current gardens.

-The Transformation: A 15'x15' space will be lined, filled with wood chips, and feature four "Epic" 3'x6' raised beds.

-Total Growing Space: 72 square feet of intensive food production.

-Accessibility: Designed with 3-foot pathways for easy care and harvest.

-Public Engagement: Educational signage and sponsor recognition will be prominently displayed on the fencing for thousands to see.

Help us break up the concrete and plant for the future. Every contribution brings us closer to turning this vision into a reality for South Oceanside.

Project Two.

The Tremont Street Garden

At The Plot Garden Project, we believe every inch of our neighborhood holds potential for growth, connection, and resilience. Right now, a wide, underutilized strip of land along the western edge of our parking lot-visible from a well-traveled, walkable road-is waiting to blossom.

We’re launching a campaign to turn this overlooked space into a Community Lane Garden: a living, edible welcome sign that nourishes, teaches, and inspires everyone who passes by.

The Vision: A Garden That Greets the Whole Neighborhood

This isn't just a garden behind a fence. This is a community-facing showcase of what's possible. We will transform this long strip into an interactive urban oasis featuring:

-Seven raised garden beds for abundant, rotating food production.

-Lattice structures for climbing peas, beans, and cucumbers, adding vertical beauty.

-Clear, engaging educational signage that explains what's growing, why it matters, and how neighbors can start their own plots.

-An open invitation to pause, learn, and even graze on a fresh snap pea or cherry tomato-experiencing true farm-to-sidewalk freshness.

This garden will be a daily reminder that healthy food and vibrant ecosystems can thrive right here in South Oceanside.

How do our urban gardens benefit the community?

These projects are a direct investment in our community's environmental, nutritional, and social well-being. Here’s what your support will grow:

-Cooler, Greener Neighborhoods: Replacing bare land with plants that clean the air and cool our streets.

-Living Environmental Education: Turning a daily walk into a learning opportunity for all ages.

-Local Food Sovereignty: Demonstrating that growing your own food is accessible, empowering, and deeply rewarding.

-Community Nourishment: Providing fresh produce for donations and hosting workshops to share gardening skills.

-A Pollinator Paradise: Creating a vital refuge for bees and butterflies in our urban landscape.

-The Truth About Soil & Health: Educating on how nutrient-dense food comes from healthy, local soil-not from cross-country shipments.

-Rooted Local Economies: Fostering a culture that values and supports relationship-based food production.
